A Change Has Come

Life is about expansion…creating new experiences and in doing so, we create new memories and we strengthen our mind.

Traveling increases your brain’s neuroplasticity.  Travel offers you something out of your regular routine which has the potential to enhance your brain's ability to change. This is one of the ways growth occurs.

This year, I decided to do something different…and at the last minute and I'm glad I did. The weekend before Thanksgiving, I booked a solo trip to Portugal.

And if you're wondering why, I would tell you that I made an unpopular and bold decision to change tradition and do something radical to take care of myself.

And I would also share that very recently, a brotha who was a little younger than me transitioned. And although I knew it was coming, the way I met he and his wife was absolutely magical and they both are such special souls. And I would also say that the end of a life reminds us how temporary this sojourn is.

I would also tell you that I don’t need to be tempted to eat food that puts my digestive system in an uproar. Mac n cheese and the sweets are my nemesis…but I don't need to justify this experience, I'm merely sharing why this is important to me.

Admittedly, for about 12 hours I wondered if this was the best decision…’cuz you know, if you mention it to the wrong person, they will let you know they think it isn’t and they are usually voicing their opinion based on their fear.

However, as my God would have it, the handful of people I shared my travels plans with were supportive and excited for me.

I chose Lisbon because I had been here earlier this year, I love Portugal and since it was last minute, I was familiar with the city which cut down time on researching what to do. The weather is also PERFECT!!!! High 60s in the day, high 40s at night and not unbearably

cool, even with my cold nature.  How can it get any better than this?!?! What else is possible?!?!

And baybaaayyyy, let me tell you, this has been, by far, one of the best and most liberating decisions I could have ever made for myself. I felt the energetic shift as soon as I hit the “buy now” button on Expedia. I am thankful that i am changing the trajectory of my life.

I have met people that will hold a special place in my soul, had the most amazing experiences and there have been soooooo many confirmations that this was the right decision at the right time. I could not have planned a better vacation at a better time in my life.

I encourage you to experience the joy and freedom travel can offer you and while you’re at it, increase your brain’s neuroplasticity.

Join me on the next Grown Ass Mama Tour to Greece. It will be magical! We will visit a vineyard in Santorini, chill on a catamarran, lie on the beach in Mykonos and so much more as we release, relax and rejuvenate ourselves next July.

I look forward to seeing your beautiful face in Greece with a small group of Grown Ass Mamas!!!!
